Waiting and Newly Adoptive Families Meeting (English)

We are delighted to announce that Janice Kwong will be a special guest at our Waiting and Newly Adoptive Families Meeting on 26th March. With 12 years of experience as a former Mother's Choice Adoption Manager and currently serving as a Senior Lecturer at Saint Francis University's Social Sciences Department, Janice will share her valuable expertise and address your questions during the meeting.

Originally from Boston, Alex moved to Hong Kong with her husband in 2017 and has just recently relocated to Singapore. She became involved with AFHK through the Waiting Families meetings when she and her husband started the adoption process in Hong Kong in 2020. Alex is a mother to a beautiful boy. Professionally, Alex has eighteen years of experience in the financial sector.

The Waiting and Newly Adoptive Families' (WNAF) Group is an informal gathering aiming to bring together those who are currently in the process of adoption, who are exploring the possibility of adoption, as well as those who have adopted within nine months. There will be sharing on what one can do to prepare while applying, waiting, and before the adoption is finalized. It is a great opportunity to ask questions to our host team who have been through the process, and to others thinking through similar issues, in a safe environment. The gathering is very interactive and there is plenty of time for questions and answers.

WNAF events are open to :

• members and non-members of AFHK

• families who are in the process of adoption or considering adoption

• families who have completed the approval process and are waiting to be matched

Participants may opt to receive a Certificate of Attendance which will note your participation and the topic of this meeting. We hope this may support an adoption or foster application by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to learning about the needs of parenting a child through adoption or fostering. The certificate will cost HKD30 and be emailed directly to you after you attend the meeting.

• HKD150 for non-members or lapsed members (or pay for membership on registration and attend this event for FREE). Payment is required in advance.
