Welcome back to our monthly parent support group. We hope many of you were able to attend the September Parent Support meeting which was held on September 20 in the evening with guest speaker Mrs. Janette Pepall on the topic of Adoption in the school setting.

Please join us as we come back together for our regular lunch time gathering on Friday, October 12.

At this meeting, we will be breaking into smaller discussion groups to help meet the needs of our diverse families. This format has been received positively by parents as a time to talk more deeply and specifically about issues they are experiencing in their families. This month, we will facilitate one small group that will focus primarily on Attachment and Behavioral Issues, and another small group, which will be open for discussion on any adoption-related topics or questions that attendees want to discuss. So come with an issue you want to discuss or just a listening ear!

Questions and issues you might bring for discussion may include any topic such as:
- dealing with anger and rage, tantrums
-eye contact and sensory issues
-acting out behavior when it becomes extreme
-talking about adoption with toddlers, middle years, teen years
-developmental stages and what relates to adoption
-handling intrusive questions, curious questions from others about adoption
-fussy eaters
-sleep challenges
-talking with relatives about adoption
-difficult background information

Our conversations have been fruitful, and the meetings continue to be a useful time for connecting with other adoptive parents and sharing our experiences. If you have not yet joined us for a meeting, we welcome you to come and participate in our next discussion!
